Throughout the 2023-2024 academic year the University of St. Andrews branch of Students for Global Health worked on a variety of different events. These events both fundraised for Students for Global Health, as well as other charity organisations and furthermore, spread information to both encourage the education of other students on global health matters by inviting a series of guest speakers to speak to our society.

We started the year off strong with a collaborative pub quiz with the St. Andrews Surgical Society, we had a great turnout and a lot of fun! From there we hosted one of our infamous Chips and Chats at Aikman’s pub where we discussed the role of technology within global health. In October we hosted a bake sale in collaboration with the St. Andrews MSF society raising money for both societies. We finished up the semester with an incredibly fun and interactive global health simulation event.

This semester we hosted two guest speakers, in the first event we welcomed Dr. Jeff Mapp who spoke to us about his work in the non-profit organisation Extra Mile Pediatrics. Later in February we welcomed Dr. Andre Willemse who discussed his work with International SOS. As we come to the close of the academic year, we can begin to look forward to what next year holds for the St. Andrews branch of the Students for Global Health Society!
