Friends of Irise

Friends of Irise (FOI) are a student group dedicated to raising awareness of global gender inequality. They support the organisation Irise International which seeks to address a major cause of girls in East Africa missing school; periods. Friends of Irise originated in Sheffield and has expanded to open branches in Birmingham, Cardiff and Manchester.

What do they do?
Friends of Irise aim to raise awareness of gender inequality throughout the world. They run teaching programmes in UK schools and fundraise to support the efforts of Irise International. Throughout the academic year they also host University events to educate and advocate.
