Hi everyone! I’m Shahir, a 4th Year Medical Student at King’s College and I am your South East Regional Coordinator for 2020/21. My passion for global health began six years ago when I went out on project to Kenya for SKIP St George’s, volunteering in orphanages across Masai and Kisii. I was the treasurer for the branch for two years, before I found my calling in SfGH in 2017. I became the Events Director for King’s in my 2nd Year and was the Head of Logistics for the Spring Conference in 2018, titled “Us vs Them.” I completed my TNT in Edinburgh in 2020.

I was initially drawn by the ethos of SfGH in wanting to reduce health inequality for all. This can occur at all levels, starting locally, nationally and finally internationally. Being part of SfGH brings you into contact with inspiring like minded individuals from across the country and it’s an interest I hope to maintain in my future career.

I am looking forward to guiding my regional branches on events held throughout the year and increase engagement between them, as the South East has the most branches. I want to support them in achieving their goals and most importantly, ensure they leave SfGH sustainably for the next committee.
