An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the board of this unique student-led global health charity!

About Medsin-UK
Medsin-UK is a student-led charity which works to realise “a fair and just world in which equity in health is a reality for all”. The charity heads a network of thirty-two local branches and national working groups, and works collaboratively with numerous other activities and projects. The charity leadership consists of a national committee of 12 student members led by a volunteer National Director.

Responsibilities of a Trustee
The Board of Trustees has the highest level of organisational oversight in Medsin-UK. Applicants should be committed to our vision and have a passion for making a difference. Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Overseeing the Medsin-UK’s long term strategy
  • Charity governance, including ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements
  • Mentorship of National Committee members

Trustees are expected to contribute up to two hours per week to their role. Online meetings are held on a monthly basis, and there are quarterly face-to-face meetings held at variable locations around the country. Successful applicants will serve a two-year term, with the opportunity for re-election.

Skills Required
The Board is particularly keen to recruit individuals who would be interested in acting as Chair or Secretary of the Board. In addition, experience in the following areas is desirable:
● Finance and accountancy
● Fundraising
● Branding, graphics and design

How To Apply
Candidates must send a CV and letter of application to trustees@medsin.org by 12 April 2017. Candidates will subsequently undergo telephone interview, by arrangement, in the week commencing 17 April 2017. The outcome of applications will be decided by the voting members of the Medsin-UK network at the Medsin Spring General Assembly in Newcastle on 29-30th April 2017.
