Years of Student-Led Action

Global health does not start after graduation

You do not need a job title, specialist qualification or established career before your voice matters.

Through Students for Global Health, students have taken policy recommendations into Parliament, contributed to national campaigns, trained their peers and represented UK students in international global-health spaces.

As a member, you can find opportunities to develop your ideas, contribute to real work and collaborate with people across the UK and around the world – right now.

What membership opens up

Find your people

Connect with students from different disciplines, universities and backgrounds who share your commitment to health equity and social justice.
Build relationships through your branch and the national network, discover people working on the issues you care about and become part of a community that extends far beyond any single event.

Turn your interests into action

Global health is not something you can only study – it is something you can help shape now.
SfGH connects you with opportunities to join working groups, develop policy, support campaigns, organise events and engage decision-makers. You might begin by attending a talk and go on to take your recommendations to Parliament.

Develop the skills to lead

Build practical skills in global-health education, advocacy, campaigning, facilitation and leadership – wherever you are starting from.
Through training and leadership roles across the network, you can put those skills into practice: delivering workshops, coordinating projects, leading your branch or contributing nationally.

Connect with the world

Being part of SfGH connects you with global health beyond your university – from opportunities across the UK to an international community spanning more than 130 countries.
Members can apply for exclusive opportunities through SfGH, IFMSA and our partners, including exchanges, international meetings, global training and opportunities to represent UK students.

The whole network, in one place

The Members’ Portal brings together the people, resources and opportunities that make up SfGH.
Build your profile, explore national and international opportunities, find events and training, access member resources and connect with people who share your interests.
No more relying on the right opportunity appearing in the right group chat at the right moment.
Your own pocket of global health – shaped by what matters to you.

What your membership makes possible

Support branches to remain active, sustainable and connected, with access to guidance, resources and national support.

Maintain the systems, coordination and infrastructure needed to bring students, branches and opportunities together nationally.

Pay our membership fee to IFMSA, securing the UK’s place within a global federation active in more than 130 countries.

Help more students participate in national and international conferences, meetings, training and representation opportunities – regardless of their financial circumstances.

Develop national training programmes, educational resources, working groups, campaigns and opportunities for students to influence policy.

Reduce our reliance on short-term grants and create a sustainable organisation that future generations of students can inherit and develop.

Your fee does more than fund your individual membership. It helps build the network, opportunities and collective voice that every member becomes part of.

Like many IFMSA member organisations around the world, we use a membership model to sustain our national work and international participation. We will continue to report transparently on how membership income supports the network.
