How our organisation is governed
Students for Global Health is a registered charity and a student-led national network.
Our members help shape the organisation’s direction through its democratic structures, including General Assemblies and elections. Day-to-day work is led by the elected National Committee, with oversight and support from the Board of Trustees.
Our governing documents set out how decisions are made, how responsibilities are shared and how the organisation remains accountable to its members and charitable purpose.

Constitution
Our constitution is the organisation’s principal governing document. It defines our charitable purpose and sets out the foundations of our membership, General Assemblies, National Committee, Board of Trustees, finances and decision-making structures.

Bylaws
Our bylaws sit beneath the constitution and provide more detailed rules for how Students for Global Health operates. They cover areas including elections, National Committee responsibilities, branches, partnerships, conferences, finances and procedures at General Assemblies.

Organisational policy statements
Our policy statements set out Students for Global Health’s positions on global-health and health-equity issues. They are researched and developed by students before being considered and adopted through our democratic processes.

SfGH2030: Engage. Educate. Empower. sets the direction of our organisation for the next four years.
The strategy focuses on establishing Students for Global Health as a leading student voice for health equity and meaningful youth engagement in decision-making, while expanding the education, skills and opportunities available to our members.
It is supported by commitments to sustainable governance, a stronger and more connected membership network, and partnerships that extend our reach and impact.

Medsin guidance statements, 2006-2015
Before becoming Students for Global Health, the organisation recorded non-binding guidance agreed at MedSIN General Assemblies. These statements covered the network’s activities, campaigns and internal decisions at the time.
They are retained as a historical record and do not represent current operational guidance or policy.

Our governance arrangements continue to evolve alongside our organisation. We are reviewing our governing documents to ensure they accurately reflect the way Students for Global Health operates today.
