Tomorrow the pre-general assembly of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA)’s March Meeting starts in Accra, Ghana. In the sweltering heat and tropical surroundings 12 fantastic Medsinners will be in attendance, representing UK medical students, and trying to advocate, educate and act with fellow medical students from over 90 countries on Global Health issues.
First of all lets introduce the delegation:
Felicity Jones & Dan Knights: our two co-coordinators this year who will be sitting in the president’s sessions.
Jonny Meldrum: Medsin’s vice coordinator who will be sitting in the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH)
Nathan Highton: From Southampton university, representing Marrow in the SCOPH sessions.
Juliet Drummond: From Kings College London, one of the co-organisers of this years global health conference will be in the SCOPH sessions.
Kevin Garrity: From Glasgow University sitting in the Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME)
Marion Matheson: From Bristol University but originally hailing from Australia, is one of the two BMA MSC Co-Chairs and will be sitting in SCOME.
Sarah-Jane Lang: From Cambridge University and Medsin’s Activities Director she will be in the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP)
Hollie Kluczewski: From Newcastle University and National coordinator of Sexpression she will be in the Standing Committee on Reproductive Health and AIDS (SCORA)
Matthew Tuck: Also from Newcastle University and Vice-Coordinator of Sexpression he will also be in SCORA and representing the Northern European Conference on Sexual Education (NECSE)
Leon Cohen: From Nottingham University and one of Medsin’s two National Exchange Officers he will be representing Medsin in the Standing Committee on Professional Exchanges (SCOPE).And lastly myself…
Mike Kalmus-Eliasz: Delegation lead, Medsin’s current Global Health Education Director and Coordinator of the IFMSA’s Think Global Initiative, I shall be running round the various standing committees as well as supporting Dan and Felicity in Presidents sessions.
